Donalee founded Centering Therapy as a place to heal and build resilience. She supports clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, and life transitions. Donalee is a trauma-informed therapist who applies tools from several modalities, including Mindful-CBT, Strength-Based Perspective, Attachment Theory, Neuroscience, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy to practice.
Donalee has postgraduate training in Perinatal Mood Disorders, Attachment Theory, Adolescent Development, Neuroscience, Mindful-CBT, Gottman Couples Counseling and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
Donalee's clinical experience includes being the Director of the FBCA Counseling Center, INOVA Behavioral Health, Augusta Behavioral Health, and Arlington Public Schools.
Donalee is a licensed therapist with over 25 years of experience.
She received her Master's in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Donalee has presented to groups on Managing Depression and Anxiety, Parenting Without Fear, Healing from Marital Betrayal, and Building Resilience and Hope Through Life's Challenges.
Donalee grew up in Santa Barbara, California, and now lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has been married to Mark for thirty-five years and has four adult children. She loves horseback riding, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Coulter has extensive expertise helping individuals find hope and healing in their struggles with stress, anxiety, addiction, or feeling depressed. His goal is to assist individuals, couples, and families to more effectively cope with problems, resolve issues, and heal emotional wounds. Through a holistic counseling approach, Coulter integrates effective insights from psychology, biology, theology, and social sciences. His career in counseling began over 35 years ago. Along with his counseling practice, Coulter leads workshops, retreats, seminars, and supervises non-licensed personnel.
Coulter enjoys spending time with his wife of over 35 years; hiking, traveling, visiting their two adult children, and volunteering with local and international ministries. He also enjoys water sports, riding his motorcycle, and good coffee.
Coulter has also developed and led programs for training in effective parenting, leadership, and marriage. He helps his clients find lasting solutions. The purpose is to assist individuals in identifying, understanding, and resolving problems that have resulted in destructive feelings, thoughts and behaviors - that interfere with a productive and satisfying life.
Coulter specializes in: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, men’s issues, parenting and family therapy.
During his career, he has worked at the Minirth, Meier & Byrd Clinic, McLean Bible Church and FBCA counseling centers, and private practice. He is also a retired teacher from FCPS and FCCPS school systems, where he taught IB Psychology and worked with HS and college students that had IEPs and 504s. He is also a member of the American Association for Christian Counselors (AACC).
For clients specifically desiring a faith-based approach to counseling, Coulter helps to restore and heal emotional, mental, and spiritual health of people through a biblically centered counseling approach that is integrated with effective insights from psychology and biology.
Coulter provides Telehealth services upon request.
Master Intern
Elise is an intern at Centering Therapy, holding a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from George Mason University, and currently pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.
In Elise's approach to counseling, there is a firm belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. She believes the counseling relationship is a sacred path toward healing. Professional interests include walking alongside clients dealing with challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions.
Elise is dedicated to creating a safe and empathetic space where individuals can explore their unique journeys, fostering growth and resilience. She looks forward to the opportunity to contribute to the well-being and personal development of clients.
Elise provides in-person services upon request.
